PROJECT
SUMMARY
In the interests of safety, the works involved the partial demolition of an existing masonry arch bridge and the construction of an independent bridge deck extension to accommodate the widening of Lilybank Road, Port Glasgow.
PROJECT DETAIL
The bridge deck widening scheme increased the carriageway from 5.13m to 6.50m, provided a new 2.0m pedestrian walkway on the south side of the structure and increased the existing north pedestrian walkway to 2.0m.
Works included the construction of 2 abutments, installation of precast deck units and parapets, realignment of an existing modular retaining wall, realignment of existing approach roads and new surfacing throughout.
