George Leslie recently hosted its third annual Innovation Day, bringing together over 400 professionals to tackle one of the industry’s most pressing challenges: sustainability.

The event, held at the company’s Barrhead headquarters, served as a collaborative platform for a diverse range of organisations, including key partners like CMAL, Scottish Water, and SP Energy Networks.

The day-long event, which took place on Thursday, August 21, 2025, featured more than 30 exhibitors showcasing the latest in civil engineering technology, from heavy plant equipment to sustainable workwear.

A central focus was a series of ten presentations that delved into forward-thinking topics such as Low Carbon 3D Printing, Nature-Based Solutions, and 4D Modelling, highlighting the industry’s shift towards more sustainable practices.

David Ross, Managing Director of George Leslie, underscored the event’s purpose. “The goal is simple yet profound: to build a more sustainable industry through innovation and collaboration,” he stated. “We came together to share knowledge, learn from one another, and highlight the positive steps we are all taking.”

The event’s nature and focus on collective progress were well-received by exhibitors and partners. Majenta, a digital solutions provider, praised George Leslie for facilitating an event that “accelerates the industry.” They noted, “Innovation Day is a fantastic platform to showcase how collaboration and digital delivery are driving progress across the infrastructure sectors.”

Selwood, a supplier of pumps and plant equipment, echoed this sentiment, emphasising their shared commitment to “smarter tech, more sustainable methods, and meaningful partnerships.” A representative from the company stated, “By supporting Innovation Day, we are helping to spark new ideas and build the connections shaping the future of our industry.”

ThinkHire, a provider of sustainable site welfare solutions, expressed pride in being part of the successful gathering. “What a day. Seeing everyone come together to make Innovation Day such a success was amazing,” a company representative remarked. “We are proud to be part of such a creative, collaborative, and sustainable event!”

Since its inception in 2023, the event has seen remarkable growth. The inaugural Innovation Day hosted 12 vendors, five speakers, and 120 attendees, demonstrating a significant increase in industry engagement and a clear demand for collaborative forums focused on sustainable innovation.
