The British business community came together last night at a prestigious awards ceremony that celebrated success and championed businesses across the UK.
The central themes of the evening were twofold: celebrating the achievements of the British business sector and raising funds for Social Bite, a charity founded in 2013 with a nationwide impact, providing food, employment opportunities, and homes for vulnerable individuals.
Josh Littlejohn, Founder of Social Bite emphasised the significant economic power and job creation driven by the businesses present, noting their collective responsibility for generating over £220 billion in annual turnover and employing over half a million people. Their resilience in navigating economic challenges and their commitment to positive social change were lauded.
The fundraising efforts for Social Bite were highlighted as a key objective of the night, with a target of £1,000,000. This target was confirmed and broken as the event brought in £1.2m for Social Bite through contributions made during the awards programme entry process, dinner support, and a preceding fundraising lunch. Attendees were urged to continue their generosity through ongoing fundraising activities.
The event underscored the powerful synergy of the country’s leading economic figures uniting to support some of society’s most vulnerable members – those experiencing homelessness.
In a tangible demonstration of the impact of their collective generosity, attendees were shown plans for village projects in Edinburgh and Glasgow. These initiatives, made possible by their involvement, will construct beautiful prefabricated modular homes, creating communities for those in need. It was shared that construction on these villages is already underway.
While the evening celebrated business success, the overarching message was one of collective pride in contributing to meaningful social change. The event concluded with an introduction of the patron.
While George Leslie were not the Winner of the Socially Responsible Business of the Year awards, we are proud of being a finalist and recognise that the collective impact socially responsible businesses are having on our communities is something everyone can be incredibly proud of.
