North Third Reservoir is an impounding reservoir on the Bannock Burn and although no longer used as a raw water supply source, maintenance work was required following an inspection by the Panel Engineer under the Reservoirs Act.
The main elements of work comprised:
Special care had to be taken to ensure the working areas were kept safe and secure in this particularly scenic area which is popular with walkers and ramblers.
Undertaking the work during the winter required close monitoring of reservoir levels and scour operations to ensure safe access to the working areas.
The overall project involves the off-site fabrication and installation of a new linkspan structure at Oban Ferry Terminal for client Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMal).

GL making a return visit to the Sound of Kerrera off Oban, to undertake substantial repairs to the breakwater which suffered collision damage following an altercation with a workboat earlier this year.
