Reservoir Working

Gartmorn Reservoir Repairs

Gartmorn Reservoir is situated near Alloa, Kincardineshire and is located within a public park, part of which is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The overall objective of the project was to improve the scour capacity and enhance the operational control of the reservoir.

The main element of work was the lowering of the existing weir and the construction of a new concrete sluice channel & penstock control structure within the existing overflow spillway channel. Additionally, the concrete channel was framed with gabion mattresses and baskets.

Extensive vegetation clearance and both concrete & masonry repairs were also undertaken together with the installation of a new access bridge over the weir to enable operational access to the new penstock.

Water dams were installed to protect the works from flood waters during construction.
