Work will start shortly on the £1.7m refurbishment of the wooden pier in Dunoon, involving replacing old timber piles, ties, bracing and decking.
This work is similar to the recent refurbishment undertaken by GL on Stranraer West Pier and will bring this prominent and iconic structure back into public use as part of Argyll & Bute Council’s Dunoon Waterfront Project under the CHORD programme. The project continues GL’s long-running presence in the town, having recently undertaken extensive upgrading of both the wastewater and clean water networks in addition to recent flood alleviation contracts.
The overall project involves the off-site fabrication and installation of a new linkspan structure at Oban Ferry Terminal for client Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMal).
