Shieldhall 1 UIDs – Margaretta Buildings CSO

The Margaretta sewer overflow spilled unsatisfactory discharges into the White Cart Water in Cathcart and this project was to construct a new attenuation storage shaft with box-culvert overflow, incorporating a powered screen, headwall and upgrading work on the upstream sewer network.

The main work elements were: –

  • A 6m diam x 6m deep pc shaft CSO built on top of the existing egg-shaped brick sewer
  • Piled cofferdam for constructing the 2.1m x1.5m pc box-culvert outfall and 4m high, pc headwall
  • Giant Hogweed removal and re-siting of otter holt
  • Replacement 45m x 750mm diam, 6m deep sewer together with 5 new 1500mm diam, 6m deep manholes in Clarkston Rd
  • Pre-planted coir matting reinstatement to promote rapid recovery
