On completion of the new wastewater treatment facilities for the area, the original Newton Stewart Wastewater Treatment Works had itself previously been converted into a pumping station to transfer wastewater flows to the new works at Minigaff.
This project was to resolve the problems associated with insufficient capacity within the pumping station which had led to excessive spills during storm conditions, the main elements of which were:
The work also included the provision of hardstanding accesses and HGV turning areas.
The contract was undertaken under an NEC Option C, Design & Build contract, with AECOM as design partners.
The overall project involves the off-site fabrication and installation of a new linkspan structure at Oban Ferry Terminal for client Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMal).
