Inspection of sewers, culverts and underwater structures is carried out by CCTV equipment. This service was first introduced by the company in the mid seventies and since those early days, we have developed a wide range of techniques in this field, aided by the every increasing technological advancements in equipment over this time.
Surveys vary from "look-see" situations where a single major defect or blockage has to be identified to determine the nature of remedial work to be adopted (either by jetting or excavation).
This type of survey is mainly used in small diameter pipes of 75mm to 150mm where access is limited, i.e. gullies or down-pipes.
For larger diameter pipes (225mm or over) main line colour systems are used, of which the company have several types to offer, the latest being the "pan and tilt" system.
This camera can provide the facility to scan a complete hemisphere which is particularly useful for looking into connections and giving close-up views of defects such as cracks and fractures.
For larger sized sewers and culverts, George Leslie Limited have specialised teams which carry out surveys by man-entry means, which enables a detailed inspection supplying high quality photographs together with a computer generated written report.
