Case Studies
Cardowan Railway Bridge

The contract was to provide a temporary solution to remove the weight restriction on this existing road bridge spanning the main railway line, to allow unrestricted, single-lane access controlled by traffic signals over the weak bridge.

The work involved a full road closure and the installation of temporary traffic diversions, whilst maintaining pedestrian access. Thereafter a ‘long-term’, temporary rollover bridge was installed by spanning the existing bridge.

The installation was carried out under a full railway ‘possession’ closure.
