Case Studies
Strachur Wastewater Treatment

The wastewater discharges into Loch Fyne at the coastal community of Strachur in Argyll, had been identified by Scottish Water as unsatisfactory and failed to comply with the requirements of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations in Scotland.

The project development, design, construction and commissioning solution was undertaken by BiwaterLeslie Joint Venture, and entailed splitting the community into 4 catchment areas. In the main catchment area which gravitated to Strachur Bay, the new, primary wastewater treatment system  comprised a lift pumping station,  septic tanks and a new combined storm overflow.

Upgrading works at the smaller catchments at Mid Letters, Hazeldene and at the Ferguson development entailed installation of new and/or modification of the existing septic tanks and upgraded and new sea outfalls.
