Dodburn Water Network Improvements
The Dodburn water network improvements were part of a wider project to improve the water quality from Roberton Water Treatment Works around the Scottish Borders town of Hawick.

The work comprised a new raw-water inlet main, and a new raw-water pumping station at Acreknowe, together with large and small diameter distribution mains.  An interesting feature was the helicopter-access, which provided the most economical method of pipe delivery to much of the remoter stretches.

Two large bore mains were laid from the water treatment works, for potable water from Roberton to Crumhaughill service reservoir situated on the outskirts of Hawick, and for raw water from Acreknowe pumping station.

The work also included 9.6km of small-bore distribution main, with multiple domestic connections which branched off from Crumhaughill  and terminated at Dodburn.
