Case Studies
Roughmute New Recycling Centre
The works are located adjacent to the existing Roughmute Waste Transfer Station on the A883 Glasgow Road near Bonnybridge and involved the construction of a new recycling and waste transfer station the main elements of which were:
- The excavation and re-use of waste materials deposited and landscaped on site.
- New blacktop access road and reinforced concrete hardstandings.
- A new drainage system including oil interceptor
- 20 metre high floodlighting, ancillary crash barriers and soft landscaping
Extensive use was made of recycled waste materials:
- Processed hardcore was used for the capping make-up layer below both the road and concrete hardstandings.
- Type 1 sub base was produced from processed, recycled waste.
- A clean 40mm drainage “topsoil” layer incorporating a high percentage of composted green waste was produced from hardcore screenings
Silts were removed from the surface water run-off system by the construction of swales.
