Case Studies
Glen Noble Sewage Pumping Station

This Design & Build project comprised firstly, emergency stabilisation work at the existing sewage pumping station which had been built on an embankment which was in danger of catastrophic collapse, and thereafter the design and build of upgrading works to the pumping station itself.

The works were located in a new housing estate, with much of the work undertaken within the back gardens of the occupied properties, which required close, day-to-day liaison with the affected householders.

The embankment was reconstructed with unsuitable material excavated and replaced with imported granular fill which incorporated a granular filter layer and drainage pipe-work at formation level. The earthworks operations required significant temporary works shoring to prevent further degradation of the embankment.

Garden fencing, pavings and final landscaping completed the embankment stabilisation part of the project.

The Pumping Station works included a general upgrade to bring it up to current specification standards. Specific other work included the replacement of damaged surface water drainage, gravity & riser sewer pipe-work and installing new ATEX-approved pumps complete with lifting davit. The original control panel was also replaced and telemetry communications installed.

A new outfall manhole and outfall structure, with apron to tie-in with the existing channel completed the permanent works construction, with full O&M manuals completing the project close-out documentation.
