The Craigie Park/Meadowburn Avenue scheme forms part of the Scottish Water UID sewerage upgrade for the Lenzie and Kirkintilloch areas. The contract comprised a new combined sewer overflow (CSO) on the line of the existing sewer and an off-line 7.5m diameter, 10m deep storage tank with new outfall.
The new CSO incorporates a new chamber and powered screen complete with control kiosk, and was constructed on the existing 750mm diameter sewer adjacent to the soon to be constructed link road. A new off-line detention storage tank, fitted with submersible pumps for storm discharge was constructed adjacent to the new CSO, along with an attached pump discharge chamber.
700mm diameter, interconnecting pipework and large access manholes were also installed, with 600mm diameter overflow pipework connecting the Detention Tank with the new outfall on the realigned Bothlin Burn.
